Freya

Freja is our eighth cutter. She is 42 feet in length, a sweet little thing, similar to Lizzie May but with a few tweaks to the lines. It has been a long time since Lizzie came off the drawing boards and after seeing how her younger sisters perform, it is inevitable that I have a few ideas that may bring this one closer to perfection! She is due to be launched on Easter weekend 2012 and will be kept by her Swedish owners in Cornwall as they plan to cruise the West Country extensively. They are keen sailors and have asked for a vessel that is capable of sailing for extended periods in remote parts of the world by just the two of them, and so are keen to keep her simple. Below decks she will have a paraffin cooker and hand pumps, so no hot and cold pressurised water systems- everything must be capable of being maintained by them selves when on extended voyages.

Freja was started on the 1st September 2010 and now in the middle of August 2011 her hull is complete, the deck laid, and fitting out down below just started. Over the coming winter her engine will be installed, the tanks fitted, the fit-out completed, and the rig put up. Her owners have just left after a brief visit before they head home to New Zealand, their winter home, to finalise some internal details. The next time they see the boat will be two weeks before her launch on the 6th April 2012.
