Agnes

Launched in 2003 from Luke’s yard in Gweek, Cornwall, 46ft Agnes is a faithful recreation of the original pilot cutter for St Agnes in the Isles of Scilly

Built for an American owner, after her launch she was prepared for an Atlantic crossing to take her to her new home where the plan was to work with young people. In 2005 Luke and Jo bought her back and sailed her home to Cornwall. Once home Agnes stepped into being Working Sail’s flag ship, spreading the word about what we do and giving prospective new owners the opportunity to sail one of Luke’s recreations.

After launching Freja in the summer of 2012, Luke and Jo decided to run Agnes as a charter boat and share their love of their boat and Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and Brittany. Since then, she has taken guest crew sailing every summer and is a well-known boat around her home waters of Falmouth and the Carrick Roads.

Traditionally rigged, with the ability to fly up to 5 sails if the weather allows, there is plenty to keep the crew busy and with a comfortable thwart that runs the full width of the boat, steering is an enjoyable experience.

She has cruised extensively and we enjoy our summer expeditions further afield. Every summer she does regular weekend voyages exploring her home waters around Falmouth. For those looking to sail further afield she sails to the Isle of Scilly and the North Brittany coast. In the past she has explored Northern Spain, Southern Ireland and Western Scotland.
